The annual wine trade season begins

The trade show circuit begins. As it has been done for centuries, wine workers change into their merchant costumes and set out to conquer the great souks of the world trade with one of the oldest products that humankind transforms from nature. It is fascinating to unravel the long journey that begins on the ground, with the roots of a humble vine, to the hustle and bustle of the major international events, attended by modern-day merchants from the five continents.

The first trade fair will be held very soon, in Barcelona, from the 3rd to the 5th of February. Called Barcelona Wine Week, it is both new and old, as it continues the tradition of its predecessor, Alimentaria-Intervin, which used to take place every two years in April. BWW starts earlier in the year, perhaps with the goal of eventually gaining an advantage over its much larger competitors in Paris and Düsseldorf.

Of course, the Parisians don't want to be left behind and are organizing a major event in February: Wine Paris. Held from the 10th to the 12th of February, it brings together the experience of Vinisud, Vinovision and Vinexpo Paris. This move reveals an impetuous upgrade to try to overtake that monster called Prowein, which will take place a month later in Düsseldorf.

We would not wish to end these lines without mentioning that Muriel will be present in all of the three fairs. Most of our brands (including Muriel and Conde de los Andes) will be in hall 8, street A, stand 786 at BWW; meanwhile, our Albariño Pazo Cilleiro DO Rías Baixas can be found on street C, stand 889 of the same hall. At Wine Paris you can find us in hall 7.1, stand HJ 071-2. Finally, stand A162-164 in hall 10 will house our wines at Prowein.
