The legend of 2004 continues

Fantastic recognition for our Conde de los Andes Historical Collection of . The 2004 vintage, one of the ones we currently have in the market, has been chosen by wine critic James Suckling to be part of the selection of the Top 100 Wines of Spain in 2019.

Conde de los Andes 2004 occupies, with 95 points, the 53rd position in the Sucking list of the best Spanish wines. This way, it shares the list with some of the most renowned and prestigious brands in our country, which underlines our success by relaunching wines of extraordinary quality, such as those of 1998 and 2001, among others. The pass of time and the special conditions at Ollauri underground cellars are allied to extol these products which are of a unique style.

2004 was one of those unique vintages

A favorable climate with snow and rain well distributed, in adequate quantities and, especially, in the key moments for the vines development. The positive conditions throughout the cycle culminated with a period of exceptionally fair weather: during the whole harvest we were accompanied by sunny moderately warm days and cool nights.

2004 could be synthesized as the vintage of balance, of those that explain the wonderful aptitudes of the Riojan vineyards to offer harmonious, fine, fresh, complete wines.

Officially, the harvest was rated as Excellent by DOCa Rioja Regulatory Council.

The definition of finesse

According to the assessment that the Council made at the time, the grapes collected in this 2004 vintage had parameters of color, alcohol content, acidity, concentration and aromatic sensations, "very suitable for long aging wines".

Our Conde de los Andes 2004 becomes, after 15 years, the most palpable demonstration of that forecast. What we can taste and enjoy today is a wine with a lively impact. A vibrant nerve born of a very balanced acidity and a structure that has been polished over time. The result is a complex, surrounding, deep aroma, which gives way to a soft, velvety mouth, with a trace of red fruit. It is the definition of finesse: that sum between warmth and freshness, between power and pleasure, which only the great wines of great years reach.

Below there is the technical sheet of this amazing Conde de los Andes 2004, which is already one of the 100 outstanding wines of Spain.
