London is an imperishable Christmas destination.
Restaurants, museums, musicals and walks are a magnet for planning short breaks in London. We love its illuminated streets, the pints in the pubs, the cold winter humidity and discovering new places.
As we did a year ago with New York, we have toured some interesting places in London where they serve, by the glass or by bottles, our wines. We are talking about four of them, located in four characteristic areas, whose neighbors and regulars enjoy tapas and other Spanish delicacies.
Moro, one of the trendiest
The most central of the four restaurants that we reviewed is already almost a classic of Hispanic cuisine in the British capital. In an old area of small industries, now transformed into a fashionable neighborhood, Moro is full of clients attracted by its modernity: in the kitchen, in the room and in the wine list. Among the wines, our Viña Muriel Reserva stands out brilliantly accompanying dishes such as charcoal-grilled duck.
Moro Restaurant. 34-36 Exmouth Market, Clerkenwell.
The Tapas Room, ibérico cured meats with a great classic wine
On the other side of the Thames, in a rising Southbank and in the heart of the traditional Deptford market, there's the Tapas Room tavern, where product is king. The lunch menu is concise but of high quality, and can be bought or tasted on site, if you find a place! The wine list makes the difference. In offers vintage 2001 of Conde de los Andes, a classic of incredible finesse and nerve.
The Tapas Room. Deptford Market Yard, 133 Deptford High St.
Laxeiro, the attractive street 'tapeo'
We jump to the northeast, to the gates of Hackney area, full of young people and creative professionals. A pure terrain for gentrification that is crowded with bars and small cute restaurants. Laxeiro has become a kind of embassy of that mix of street and tapas identified with Spanish way of life. And it does not disappoint. Here we find, as one of the top red wines of the menu, Viña Muriel Reserva, "soft, structured and balanced".
Laxeiro. 93 Columbia Rd.
The Parador, a long-lasting charisma
In famous Camden Town, El Parador is the veteran of this list. A family restaurant, which warmly welcomes hundreds of faithful for no less than three decades. Pleasant dishes, traditional recipes and some punctual audacity make up a nice menu, backed by an interesting wine section. By the way, they have our Muriel entire range, from the fantastic young white to the Gran Reserva. The Parador is a "must"!
