This wine epitomizes the concept and practice of the strictest selection.
It stands for the truest idea of what we understand as a high-end reserve: from the most rigorous selection of plots and grapes we obtain a qualitative and differential character. Made of depth, timeless, serene and elegant joy. A seductive picture that is due to both the winemaking experience and the place of origin: in this case, Tempranillo vines of quite an age ?about 40 years old? goblet-grown on the hills of the large estate of El Gallo, in the town of Elciego (Rioja Alavesa). Viña Muriel is, therefore, a clear exponent of this collective path towards the identification with origin. A path based on differentiation and honesty, as Javier Murúa points out in this conversation.
An exceptional recognition
In May 2017, Viña Muriel Reserva 2011 got the top accolade at the International Wine Challenge. It was one of the 72 Spanish wines to achieve a Gold Medal. The Jury tasted again all the Golds and chose the Trophies among them. Only 18 wines were awarded with a Trophy Medal. And ours was one of them. We feel really proud of an achievement which confirms the good decision of linking our top quality brand with its vineyard of origin.
