Winefest, the great wine event in Western Canada
Tastings, festivals and lots of activities to fight the cold in Alberta
In the Canadian Far West there are also winelovers. Increasingly.
We have had the honor to attend with our wines and our own table at Winefest, the great wine festival that is been held every February for a decade, in the province of Alberta.
In addition to its high quality and a level of assistance and popularity that has left us speechless, the uniqueness of the Winefest is in its dual organization: its calendar is divided into two consecutive calls, each in a different city. The first one, on February 15 and 16, took place in the capital of the province, Edmonton. The second, on the 22nd and 23rd, in the largest city in Alberta, Calgary, which hosted the 88th Olympic Winter Games.
This edition of the Winefest has been dedicated to Rioja and has had the presence of 9 wineries of our denomination. We've been there with our brands Muriel, Viña Muriel and Conde de los Andes.

A great tasting of Muriel wines in Calgary's Safari Grill helped us fight the -18 C temperature
In addition to its high quality and a level of assistance and popularity that has left us speechless, the uniqueness of the Winefest is in its dual organization: its calendar is divided into two consecutive calls, each in a different city. The first call, on February 15 and 16, took place in the province capital, Edmonton. The second one, on days 22nd and 23rd, was held in Alberta largest city, Calgary, which hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics.
This edition of the Winefest has been dedicated to Rioja and has featured 9 wineries from our denomination. We have presented with a great success the entire range of Muriel, Viña Muriel and Conde de los Andes.
With extremely low temperatures, frozen wide rivers and ice hockey matches of the Edmonton Oilers (the name of the city team is an homage to one of its main economic activities), we have had time to offer several private tastings with clients, specialized stores and restaurants. Sherbrooke, Rogers Place, Sunterra, Calgary's Safari Grill... To all of them and many more, our warmest thanks for the hospitality received during two intense weeks... more than 7,000 kilometers away from Rioja!
In both cities together, the Winefest received more than 7.000 visitors!
Tasting at Edmonton's Sherbrooke, a very nice place.
