Rioja: a huge harvest and a satisfactory quality
The harvest confirmed the production expectations of 2018 in the region. The good weather during September and October allowed vinegrowers and winemakers to stagger the harvesting campaign until reaching the necessary quality. In quantity, the harvest was very close to the historical record of the Denomination, which was reached in the 2000 harvest, just after a year of heavy frosts as was 1999. That year, production achieved 490 million kilos of grapes. In terms of quality, the general feeling was satisfactory after one of the 21st century most difficult vintages, especially due to the risks caused by humidity and the load of the vineyards. In the end, the intense work in the vineyard and the great effort of grape selection allowed to overcome the difficulties and ensure a very positive harvest.

Muriel Fincas de la Villa Blanco 2018
Born from well-selected vineyards of Elciego, it is a wine with intense aromas and a fresh, tasty and fruity mouth, very clean. In this 2018 vintage, the Viura grape variety expresses itself in all its deep, complex and energy-endowed character. And that is a young wine! Everything suggests that this vintage will be on the same path with that of 2017, when this wine was chosen in a blind tasting organized by the Regulatory Council as one of the 25 best among more than 200 white wines from all of Rioja denomination. Although it is our "small" wine, it is already a big one.
