We have enjoyed it in indoor snacks, in beaches of rivers and lakes, in family barbecues, also in urban terraces and in parties with friends, but where it best fits is facing the sea, in beach bars or white tablecloth restaurants and in ice-filled party buckets. With fried fish tapas and seafood from the Rías Baixas.
The Rías Baixas, of course, that's where Albariño grapes come from. And that's why Pazo Cilleiro works so well with octopus and mussels, clams and prawns. But Albariño is a traveling soul and shares the cosmopolitan spirit so typical of Galicia. So we have found our wine in places on the Valencian coast, among pintxos in Bilbao, in Cadiz bars and in taverns in hidden coves of Mallorca. Also in London parks and Dutch canals, in music festivals in Australia and on sailboats moored in Californian ports.
Our Albariño in American Airlines
By the way, if we go to California or any other American destination flying with American Airlines in the coming months, we can ask for Pazo Cilleiro in Business class. Imagine flying over the Grand Canyon or the Mississippi Delta or the Great Lakes region while enjoying a glass of our Albariño: A high pleasure!
90 Suckling points
In his last and thorough evaluation of Spanish wines, American critic James Suckling gives Pazo Cilleiro 90 points. This is his assessment: "A little lifted pears and apples on the nose with a succulent, juicy feel and plenty of white peaches on offer. This has good depth".
