In a few days, towards the middle of September, the grape harvest will begin in our vineyards at the easternmost Rioja, on the slopes of the Sierra de Yerga.
Some days later the moment will be for Rías Baixas (Galicia), where we make Pazo Cilleiro Albariño. And at the end of September the harvest will spread to Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Conde de los Andes vineyards will be harvested during the first half of October.
These are moments of nervousness, excitement and emotion. Predictions suggest that the 2018 vintage will have a high quality, after a difficult and complex year. Vinegrowers have had to make a great effort to diminish the possible harmful effects of a dangerous combination: excessive humidity and short temperatures at the beginning of summer.
The vineyard responds to the most extreme and careful dedication with its best face: a finally healthy grape with good qualities. We hope to see it rather soon.
In the wait, we leave here a visual testimony of the part vintage in El Gallo estate, located in the western sector of our hometown Elciego (Rioja Alavesa). These Tempranillo grapes are responsible of a good part of Muriel and Viña Muriel red wines.
