Middays, afternoons and evenings of outdoor living. The weather is starting to improve and it will get better with each passing day. We like to enjoy our tapas and conversations with a full-bodied white wine with structure, freshness and a touch of class. The sort of wine that makes us raise our glasses and utter some words of admiration.
"This wine is so good". It's an observation that those of us who drink and share Viña Muriel Blanco Reserva have often heard. It is the kind of wine that feels balanced and pleasant on the palate, a characteristic quality of any great white wine. Speaking of which, we should pay more attention to the extraordinary qualities of Rioja whites meant for ageing. Their intensity and elegance are exceptional and the market is finally appreciating them. The great whites from Rioja are in vogue.
Our Viña Muriel Blanco Reserva displays subtle and balanced aromas, but it really shines on the palate: round, silky and yet so fresh and vibrant. It lingers on the palate and fills it with a pleasant and appealing aftertaste.
The origins of Viña Muriel Blanco Reserva
The plots of white Viura grapes selected for this wine are located in Elciego. Specifically on El Gallo plateau, one of the most sought-after areas in the village.
At El Gallo we farm 24 hectares under vine, mostly planted to Tempranillo. But there is a plot of 40-year-old Viura grapes in the central part of the vineyard. At this age, the maturity and balance of the vines are virtually perfect.
Making this wine is a delicate and meticulous process. The Viura grapes are pressed very gently to maximise the fruit character. The wine is fermented and matured in top quality French oak barrels, which add intensity, complexity and roundness. This wine is ideal to accompany the finest meals.
Spring dishes with Viña Muriel Blanco Reserva
With its inviting, pleasant and gentle mouthfeel, this wine seems like it was made for spring as it blends seriousness and vivacity.
We love it with pasta dishes. Now that the vegetable season is upon us, we invite you to try this fusilli dish with fresh garden vegetables and a light milk cream sauce. Vegetable flavours, sweet notes and very pleasant textures. Viña Muriel Blanco Reserva wraps up these flavours and intensifies their most pleasant notes. Try it.
Another favourite is spaghetti frutti di mare. With prawns, clams, chopped cuttlefish, etc., cooked in a spicy olive oil sauce. Viña Muriel Blanco Reserva is perfect for spicy food: it makes it feel milder but at the same time enhances it, a remarkable and delicious result. Obviously, the wine is perfect with fish.
Enjoy!
