Mountain bike enthusiasts in Galicia should try Entre Rías by Wikiloc, a route that we have ridden starting at Pazo Cilleiro, our winery in the heart of the Salnés valley in Rías Baixas.
The route traverses many of the main coastal spots in the Arousa estuary and the northern banks of the Pontevedra estuary. Villages like Cambados, Ribadumia, Seixinos, Meaño, O Covelo, Combarro welcome riders on an excursion filled with sea aromas, green scenery and genuine local cuisine.
The trail crosses the Castrove mountain, at over 400 metres above sea level. On clear days, the views of the Salnés area from the summit are spectacular. Villages, beaches, hills and houses dot the landscape and among them, countless small plots of Albariño vines, many of them trained with the region?s singular pergola system.
Crossing the small valley we come across the Armenteira monastery, a spiritual landmark in the region and a familiar spot in this blog. Armenteira is surrounded by nature, forests and creeks that power the windmills of the Stone & Water Route (Ruta da Pedra e da Auga). If you have a chance, it?s worth taking a detour to discover it.
We finish at the point of departure, Pazo Cilleiro, where we can recover with a glass of albariño sourced from the very vineyards we have seen during the trail.
